Trip Report, Day 3

We woke up in our Anaheim hotel, ate some continental breakfast and hit the road to Legoland in Carlsbad (an hour south). We stopped in Oceanside at a Best Buy to buy a new video camera since we realized that ours had given up the ghost the day before. Unfortunately, we had no way to charge the battery, so the abundant videos would have to wait until Disneyland. We did take some (though not much) video with the still camera at Legoland; even with little video proof, we certainly had a fabulous time. The weather was beautiful (85 degrees for the high) and the park was perfect. We were there by the time they opened the gates and really had no lines to speak of the whole day.

One cool thing about Legoland is the fact that many of the rides are interactive. There's a driving school in which the kids drive mini lego cars...


On the Sky Cruiser you have to pedal in order for it to go (it's motorized, but it senses whether or not you're pedaling). Another ride, the Kid Power tower requires you to pull a rope in order to ascend, then letting go of the rope lets you descend (gradually).
For the Knights' Tournament, the riders get to choose the intensity of the ride on a scale of 1 to 5. David and I dialed it right up to 5. We were smart to plan lunch AFTER this ride.

Finally, a big attraction at Legoland is the Miniland USA area. It has several mini cities from around the United States with some amazing lego buildings in them. It's easy to spend long periods of time looking at all the detail in each of the many buildings.

They even had some extra features just for the holidays!

After the park closed, we headed over to In-N-Out Burger for some California goodness.

I prefer the Double Double Animal Style, thank you very much. With cheese fries and a neapolitan shake, of course.
