I call 'em like I see 'em

I LOVE that the word "occasional" is in our blog name, because it's truth in advertising. I make no pretenses.

The next few posts are an attempt at some summer highlights:

We've still got three weeks of summer left before my semester begins (oh, that's depressing just to type!), so we're going to pack in as much fun (and painting!) as we can. We might even bloggg.

Utah--I've heard of it.

We took a trip to Utah for my aunt's wedding the weekend of June 20th. While it was a quick trip, we enjoyed it and made the most of it. We got to spend a couple of days with Stacey's youngest siblings in Orem, attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house, went to Seven Peaks water park in Provo (and the ever-fabulous Pizza Factory for dinner), then headed up to Ogden for the wedding itself (from which I have, oddly, no photos!).This was taken at a really windy rest area outside Green River, UTAlways photogenic

Happy Birthdays

David and Hannah each had birthdays at the end of June. In addition to celebrating in Utah, once we got back David took a couple of friends to Boondock's and Hannah took the family (and one friend), including my parents and my cousin and her husband, to Chuck E. Cheese's (to play) and Fazoli's (to eat).

In progress...

I've been trying to paint the exterior of the house since we bought the paint on Memorial Day. Got the whole thing cleaned, scraped, primed, prepped, got the main color done, got the shutters put back on--just need to tackle the trim now. I have a week before we head back on vacation, so I'm hoping the weather will be reasonable. The wettest June since the 1870's has certainly slowed the process, but we're coming along. No photos until it's done.

McConaughy

Two weeks ago we took a five-day weekend and spent it at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska. It's a family tradition for Stacey's family, and it's fun--especially when the weather's nice. With McConaughy that's no guarantee, but we were darn lucky and had a fabulous time.

Seth is such a poser.

Scout camp

Last week David and I spent the week at Camp Cortlandt Deitler for Scout Camp. We both had a fantabulous time. The camp is based on the patrol method, so the boys did all of their own cooking (though the food was provided by the camp). Honestly, it's the best scout camp food I've ever had. As I put on my facebook status, here are two things I like. 1. Camping. 2. Coming home from camping.

Archery is still my favorite scout camp activity (honestly, I just like shooting things).

Quite probably the coolest photo David has ever taken.
